With second place in the Atlantic 10 conference on the line, two players from the Columbus area were major thorns in the sides of the University of Dayton Flyers, leading Loyola of Chicago to a 77-72 win in Chicago, dropping UD to third place in the A-10 at 12-4. After getting upset by a mediocre George Mason team in Fairfax, Va., the 22-5 University of Dayton basketball team made certain it didn't lose two games in a row for the first time this year, romping over Davidson, 80-66, with six Flyers scoring in double figures.

It seems as if every team that comes to UD Arena to play the University of Dayton Flyers, they bring their 'A' team and force UD to stave off upsets. Such was the case Saturday afternoon when a forlorn Fordham team put the Flyers to a tough test before UD prevailed, 7-70, their 13th straight win this season in the Arena and 21st win this season.

Adversity rears its ugly head in many ways and the University of Dayton responded to adversity on several fronts, a 23-12 deficit early in a game at Saint Joseph's and an 'off' night by DaRon Holmes II. But his supporting cast took on starring roles Tuesday night in hostile Hagan Arena to score a 94-79 Atlantic 10 victory to remain tied for first place with Richmond.
