It's hard to win when you only get three hits and your freshman pitchers battle the batting order and the strike zone. Both gave rise to the Buckeyes dropping the series finale to Purdue.
Hero's welcome....Left fielder Trey Lipsey is engulfed at home plate following his walk-off, three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to beat Purdue. The Buckeyes secured the series with a 12-10 win and seek the sweep on Sunday.
Nick's big night....OSU's Nick Giamarusti is taking his gloves off before he even reached home following his fifth inning home run Friday against Purdue. Giamarusti finished with four hits in five at bats, eight total bases, and a pair of RBIs in an 8-2 win. Read more in Saturday's Press Pros.
At 10-11 Bill Mosiello and the Buckeyes find themselves in a position they expected to be better entering Big Ten play. And with two-thirds of the season still ahead they face a pivotal weekend.
