Before you hit the road for summer trips, camps, and whatever you do, give some consideration before you leave to what’s yet to come this week on Press Pros.
Summer is a good time for most of us. It’s nice to get the stink of winter (and that ten weeks of frigid Ohio spring) replaced by 80 degree temperatures and the restorative process. No school, summer vacations, football camps, travel baseball, et. al, and etc.
Now, in the web publishing business it’s another matter because while people are out of school, on summer vacations, at football camps and playing travel baseball, they’re typically not prone to read. Thereby, our traffic numbers – readers are down – for about a month.
So, before you hit the road let’s give you something good to come to with news of two excellent announcements on Press Pros this week.
One…this Wednesday, June 8, we will publicly announce the selection of our Midwest Athletic Conference male and female scholar athletes of the year, as sponsored by those area businesses supporting the “MAC” page on Press Pros. The awards presentation is being hosted this year by Moeller’s Brew Barn in Maria Stein at 6 pm, and each recipient will receive a $2,000 scholarship to further his and her educational journey at the school of their choice come September. The public, and MAC fans interested, are encouraged to attend.
Two…later this week our resident hall-of-famer and long-time Reds writer, Hal McCoy, will debut an entirely new page on Press Pros entitled Hal McCoy At Large, a regular column on everything you always wanted to know about baseball but didn’t get to read…because who was as immanently qualified, or as bold to write it as Hal McCoy?
If you’ve purchased and enjoyed Hal’s book release from last year, My Half-Century With The Reds; if you enjoyed Hal’s thoughtful writing from last weekend’s state baseball tournament, you’re going to equally enjoy Hal’s opinions on a whole ‘nuther world of sports and baseball outside the Cincinnati Reds.
In the wake of last weekend, we have already received positive words from readers who enjoyed his coverage from Columbus, and without question “the famer” is primed and enthusiastic to let his hair down with this different journalistic outlet.
And in the weeks to come…profiles on the areas anticipated athletes for the upcoming fall and winter sports season, a cosmetic facelift to the front page of Press Pros, and the genesis of another year and the excitement of considering next year’s scholar athlete award winners on Press Pros.
And if you hit the road before Wednesday, not to worry. The good thing about web publishing is you’re never too far away. Smart phones mean that Press Pros is always in your pocket…with something good to read!
