After a blistering start to his season at AAA Round Rock, Jared Hoying has been called up to the major leagues by the Texas Rangers.

Needless to say, Monday was a landmark day in the life of Ft. Loramie’s Jared Hoying.  After seven years toiling in the Texas Rangers farm season, he got the call he’d long awaited.  Rangers General Manager Jon Daniels made him a major leaguer.

After a spate of outfield injuries to Shin-Soo Choo, Drew Stubbs, and Josh Hamilton, Hoying was summoned along with the organization’s top prospect, Joey Gallo, to provide outfield support.  He started in left field Monday night against the Los Angeles Angels.

Hitting .319 with seven homers and 32 RBIs, Jared had a .409 on base percentage at Round Rock, the Rangers’ AAA affiliate in the Pacific Coast League.  It was an easy call, according to Daniels.

“He has had a tremendous first month-and-a-half of the season,” general manager Jon Daniels said. “Not only the power and the plate discipline, he also runs the bases well, plays great defense. It was an easy recommendation for our guys.”

hoying_thumb20823Hoying is a 2007 graduate of Ft. Loramie High School and was the Rangers’ 10th round pick in 2010 out of the University of Toledo.  He helped lead Bill Sturwold’s Redskins to their first state baseball title in 2007.

“This is something I’ve always dreamed about,”  said Hoying of a future major league call-up during a 2014 Press Pros interview in Round Rock.  “But at this level it’s everybody’s dream.  Everybody pulls for everybody else to get there.  You just have to keep working.”

His work paid off.  Monday…Jared finally got his call!
