A near quarter-century as head coach, and almost three decades on the Jackson Center sideline in some capacity, culminated for Scott Elchert on Saturday night with a lopsided win over Riverside and great appreciation for a community that he holds dear.
As defensive as you can imagine, Marion Local and Fort Loramie slugged it out for four quarters, finished tied, then went to overtime to determine who could outlast the other. Loramie prevailed in a preview of Division IV tournament basketball.
Leading by just five points at the half, Jackson Center showed its experience, and quality, and sprinted to the finish in the second half to beat Minster Saturday night, 50-36.
