As the Cincinnati Travel, Sports and Boat Show opens for the 60th time, the list of outdoor/boat shows within a day’s drive of the Miami Valley is impressive.
With the recent announcement that there will be no outdoor/boat show in the Dayton area in 2017, it looks like those wishing to shed their cabin fever will again be going south to the annual Cincinnati Travel, Sports and Boat Show at Duke Energy Center.
The reliable Cincinnati Show, scheduled for Jan. 13-15 and 18-22, has changed its format, at least for this year. The customary outdoor sports show, which has always taken up the latter portion of the show, has been canceled. The golf show, held upstairs during the opening segment of the show, continues.
The Cincinnati show is marking its 60th year, and to celebrate, visitors can gain access to the show free Jan. 13.
“My dad, Robert S. Hart, started this show 60 years ago … and it’s surreal to see how far it’s come,” said Chip Hart, president and former CEO of Hart Productions. “Over the years, a lot has changed, including moving from the Cincinnati Gardens to Duke Energy Convention Center downtown. What hasn’t changed is our passion for bringing entertainment and a quality product to our long-standing fans, friends and those who have truly become family.”
The Cincinnati show will feature more than 30 boat and marine recreation dealers with 60 different brands. There will be the usual assortment of fishing tackle, hunting displays and vendors of many types of outdoor products. There will be travel and adventure destinations and, new this year, a beer garden featuring local craft breweries.
So, though there is no Dayton show, there are still indoor-outdoor shows in my annual list of shows within easy driving distance from the Miami Valley.
