First Call: The Hal McCoy Scholarship Award, 2021

If you want a career like that of our resident hall of fame columnist Hal McCoy, or if you just want to teach the King’s English, you might want to read, and apply, for an annual Press Pros opportunity that can help your dream come true.

It’s that time of year…good cheer and good news…for those who honestly believe that with every new year comes a new opportunity. Press Pros would like to help.

It’s the annual time to remind those who are thinking about a career in journalism, communications, or in language arts…you might want to apply for the 2021Hal McCoy Scholarship Award from Press Pros Magazine and sponsored by the Park National Bank.

In its tenth year, the McCoy scholarship is for those who want to pursue a degree in journalism or communications from an accredited college or university…writing, photo or broadcast…or in the case of one previous winner, you might want to become a language arts instructor in your local school. In Hal’s name we’re able to award a deserving area student from Miami, Shelby, Mercer, Auglaize, Darke, Champaign, Preble and Montgomery county $2,500 towards achieving your goal, but you’ve got to apply.

“I’m honored to have my name associated with such a generous gesture of support,” says Hal. “I know this…$2,500 would have come in very handy when I was a struggling journalism major at Kent State University back in the 60s. I’m pleased to be a part of this.”

hal_inset1212If we’re talking to you, contact Press Pros for an application. Fill it out, send it back to us, and put yourself in the running. Given that this is a narrow field of interest, your chances of winning are very good. Just ask last year’s winner, Madison Wiss, from Minster High School.

“Unbelievable,” said Madison. “This award really helps….a lot!”

Madison is in her freshman year of communications study at Bowling Green.

It can happen to you, but you have contact us and apply. Deadline for your application has been moved up…to April 1, 2021. So let us hear from you today.

Contact Press Pros now for the Hal McCoy Scholarship Award for Journalism and Language Arts…2021!
