Who’s Hot…St. Henry’s Langenkamp, Performance Worthy Of More Than Mention

He scored four touchdowns in last Friday’s win over unbeaten Versailles and more than did his part to snap an annoying losing streak.  Senior Drew Langenkamp, in short, made his team look like state champions again.

St. Henry, OH – One who follows St. Henry sports is accustomed to seeing senior Drew Langenkamp lead from behind home plate – the catcher on one of the state’s top perennial baseball teams.

But needing to snap what had become an annoying two-game losing streak to start their season Friday night, running back Drew Langenkamp showed his leadership between the hash marks, sideline to sideline, and end zone to end zone – whatever it took to run for four touchdowns and the lion’s share of 222 yards rushing – 190 of them to be exact.

He had plenty of help from his teammates, to be sure, but let’s be honest…he spearheaded a 34-21 win over the previously undefeated Versailles Tigers, plenty enough to check the box for this week’s ‘Who’s Hot’ honoree on Press Pros.

He leads from behind home plate, too, one of the state’s best catchers in Division VI baseball in 2026.

“We learned from last year’s seniors something about leadership, teaching the young guys, and tradition,”  he said to Press Pros writer Alan Brads, afterwards.  “That’s the main thing around here.”

Coaches coach, and players play, to be sure.  But Redskins’ third-year coach Josh Werling tipped his hand when he spoke about his senior running back’s contribution to their first win of the young year, as well as expectations for the next eight weeks.

“We’re an inexperienced group,”  said Werling, assessing his team’s first three weeks. “So then you have to lean on the few guys who have been there [before]. Drew Langenkamp, Nick Lefeld, Tate Boeckman, Drew Buschur – we lean on them.”

Langenkamp and his fellow seniors don’t seem to mind.  Relish the challenge, in fact.

“Drew is going to run over people, get tackled about 30 times in a game, and get back up and do the same thing over and over again,” Boeckman said. “It helps a lot having a guy like that on our team.”

And timing is everything, of course.  For on a night when a lot of area individuals showed their leadership to show the young guys – what’s necessary for the sake of tradition – no one needed it more last week than the reigning state champs in Division VII.

For all the above, we congratulate Drew Langenkamp with this week’s ‘Who’s Hot’ recognition…worthy of more than just mention…and just in time for what’s yet to come in MAC football.

He doesn’t seem to mind.

Peace of mind is as easy as the relationship you have with your local bank, and the St. Henry bank is small enough to know you, and big enough to serve you.  The St. Henry Bank joins Press Pros Magazine in recognizing this week’s “Who’s Hot” honoree…running back Drew Langenkamp, from St. Henry High School.
