On that occasion when we have the opportunity of experiencing one of our Press Pros sponsors, it’s gratifying to share the facts that can save readers some angst – and sweat – of their own.
It was bound to happen. After 38 years of faultless service, the old air conditioning unit in my house crossed over last week on the threshold of the current heat wave.
38 years, you say? Yeah, one of the final leftovers of my parents living in our one hundred-ten-year-old house in Covington, that had never failed, and never been serviced since my dad installed it in 1986. What’s the familiar saying? They don’t build ’em like that anymore?
And for years Logan spokesperson and long-time associate Amanda Kinsella had asked me, “How’s the old air conditioner this year?”
She knew. We both knew. It is what it is…a matter of time.

So when I called her last week I wasn’t questioning their ad about free estimates and next-day installation…I needed a next-day estimate and next-day installation. And Amanda and Logan didn’t let me down.
More, they didn’t let Mindy down, who had vacated the house for Columbus and cooler roommates while things inherent with a house this old got sorted out. “I want to be somewhere else while this gets resolved,” she assured, knowing there were going to be some moving parts.
But within hours the Logan team was here, the issue of a dual connection for both AC and heat had been mapped out, sources contacted, and the installation team showed up to begin the transformation.
Honestly, it was not an easy job. This was not your typical home in a subdivision. By comparison, this was Little House on The Prairie. But it didn’t seem to phase the Logan installer named Bobby, who patiently went about a two-day process of working around tight-fitting stairs and spaces. There were a lot or “what ifs”, and, “How’s this gonna’ work?” Bobby had seen it before – had done it before.
By Friday evening everything was in place and ready to test. And of course, nothing in the threat of 95-degree weather can come off without challenge. But that turned out to be a hiccup.
A thermostat!
“I’ll be right back,” service rep Craig Cairns explained. “I have to go to the shop.”
In an hour he was back, installation complete, and within another hour the house was sitting at 75 degrees.
The check list?
Trane AC units are typically known for quiet operation…and this one is quiet.
They’re known for durability, and I probably won’t be around to test that.
They’re known for superior humidity control, and in the first five days of operation I can check that box, as well.
And their people – Bret, Bobby, and Craig – considerate and confident…professionals. You couldn’t have asked for better.
Industry-wide, investment in a Trane unit is viewed as a positive if you plan on staying in your home long-term. And I’ve already been here 36 years, so why move?
So like other testimonials I’ve done for sponsors regarding cars, tires, lawn mowers, kitchen remodeling, and one I’m about to do in a matter of days on how to fix faulty rural wi-fi, my experience with having Logan Services on the job has been just like Amanda claims.
They are what they say they are.
As the kids say…very cool!
