Among all the individual performances of the Week 4 in area football, no one did more, and did it when needed, than Coldwater running back Braxton Taylor’s 245 yards and five touchdowns.
Coldwater, OH – Teenage athletes have minds like elephants. They don’t soon forget events and accomplishments that more often than not come once in their lives.
And such may well be the case for Coldwater senior running back Braxton Taylor, of whom it’s safe to say may have had his unforgettable moment in the Cavaliers’ 37-22 win at home against visiting New Bremen. His 23 carries for 245 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns iced his recognition for this week’s ‘Who’s Hot’ honoree from Press Pros.

Taylor opened with a 44 yard touchdown run in the first quarter to give the Cavaliers a 7-0 lead, just 24 seconds into the game.
Then, with two and a half minutes gone in the third quarter, he sprinted 44 yards to give his team a 17-7 lead over the visiting Cardinals.
Five minutes later, he upped that lead to 24-7 lead with a 7-yard run, his third scoring strike of the game.
New Bremen is a good football team, with weapons of its own, and when the Cards closed the margin to 24-22 with eight minutes to play in the fourth quarter (largely on the contribution of running back Jacob Kelly and his 161 yards rushing and two scores), Coldwater and coach Chip Otten again turned to Taylor, who responded with 1-yard run with 4:44 left to increase the lead to 30-22.
But to ice the proceedings, with time running out and Coldwater in control of the ball with a minute to play, Taylor ripped off his longest run of the game, 63 yards, and his fifth touchdown to wrap up the 37-22 final score and his career-night (thus far) of 245 yards and 30 points scored.
What’s particularly noteworthy of Taylor’s accomplishment, and thus far his senior year, is his having missed a significant portion of the 2025 season with a severe hamstring injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the school sports year. It required almost a full year of recovery and care prior to his returning for his senior season.
Nonetheless, he’s back now at original form and his Friday performance more than proves that with their impressive win, along with conference wins by Marion Local, Minster, and St. Henry (all unbeaten in MAC play), the final six week’s of the season will be no less drama-filled than customary MAC football seasons of the past.
