Who’s Hot: Anna’s Logan Ziegenbusch

Anna quarterback Logan Ziegenbusch threw for 188 yards and four touchdowns in the Rockets’ loss to Marion Local.  (Press Pros Feature Photos)

He and his Rockets teammates came within a tipped two-point conversion try of ending the longest high school winning streak in the country last week, so it wouldn’t be a bad time to tell you more abaout the talents of Anna sophomore quarterback, Logan Ziegenbusch.

He’s the only Ziegenbusch you’ve probably ever heard about in a sports perspective.  But that’ll probably change locally over the next two and one-half years.  Logan Ziegenbusch is the 5’11”, 150-pound sophomore quarterback for the Anna Rockets and he’s doing some big things, and making big impact within the state-wide focus on MAC football.

And Friday night he came oh-so-close to the biggest impact of all, taking the Rockets to a breath-taking finish against nationally-recognized Marion Local, coming up one two-point conversion short of snapping the Flyers 71-game winning streak.  Someone in the Marion secondary got a finger on Ziegenbusch’s pass to a Rockets receiver in the end zone, deflecting it wide, and that’s all that ruined the Rockets’ chance to share MAC and OHSAA history.

Press Pros writers who had covered previous Anna games this season had come back talking about his athleticism and cool under stress.  “That sophomore quarterback, ‘Ziegen-something’, can really play. He makes things happen.’

Marion coach Tim Goodwin paid him and his Rocket teammates this compliment following Friday’s nail-biting win.

“They’re going to be a load in the playoffs.  And they’re young.  I don’t even want to think about the future with them,”  said Goodwin.

Ziegenbusch threw for 188 yards and accounted for most of the Rockets’ 84 yards rushing, a lot of it in third down and long scenarios where the Marion defense knew to suspect him and still couldn’t stop him.

Following that game, our social media has been busy about Ziegenbusch, the Rockets, and just how close they came as a two-touchdown underdog to snapping the streak and bringing increased focus on themselves as an upcoming playoff contender.  The Rockets entered the Marion game ranked #10 in the Division VI Region 24 standings.

“Who’s going to want to play Anna if they came that close to beating Marion Local on their own field, and had Marion’s back to the wall on the last play of the game?”  someone wrote.

And a good question to pose to defending Division VI champ Coldwater, who lost to Ziegenbusch and the Rockets two weeks ago, 14-7.

But all that’s conjecture, as opposed to the here and now.  Our congratulations to Logan for opening eyes and the minds of football fans with the best of the OHSAA high school football season yet to play.  One thing we’re certain of.  It’s not ‘Ziegen-something’..but Ziegenbusch, and a whole lot more of it in the future.

We’re proud to tab Logan Ziegenbusch as this week’s ‘Who’s Hot’ honoree on Press Pros Magazine.com.

Peace of mind is as easy as the relationship you have with your local bank, and the St. Henry bank is small enough to know you, and big enough to serve you.  The St. Henry Bank joins Press Pros Magazine in recognizing this week’s “Who’s Hot” honoree…Logan Ziegenbusch, from Anna High School.
