Who’s Hot: Marion Local Running Back, Parker Hess

“To play this far with your friends and everybody every year…it’s just amazing.”  – Parker Hess, Marion Local Flyers

Marion’s missing back from a year ago has rebounded to give the Flyers a three-headed monster in the backfield…and a shot at their fourth title in a row.

Running back Parker Hess had a shot at expounding upon being healthy again, rebounding this year to gain a thousand yards, and reaching the state title game this week for the fourth time in as many years.

Or, he could have made a case for playing all four years without losing a game…64 straight if they beat Jerome-Hillsdale in Friday morning’s Division VII championship.

Rather, he chose to talk about his offensive line – teammates – who have made the four-year journey to unspeakable high school football records memorable, and so much fun.

“Those guys really blocked well tonight,”  said Hess, following Friday night 41-6 win over Columbus Grove in the Div. VII semi-final.  “It’s fun to get to play with your friends and get this far each year.  It’s amazing.”

And for the game, Hess led all rushers with 20 carries for 200 yards, three touchdowns, and the award for biggest smile when it was over.  He is, without question, this week’s Press Pros’ ‘Who’s Hot’ honoree.

“I wouldn’t want to scout us on film and try to focus on just one man to stop,”  said Tim Goodwin, referring to his three-man running back option of Hess, Drew Lause, and Ethen Heitkamp.  “And actually, our best running back isn’t carrying the ball now because he’s dinged up a bit with his legs.”

Hess has taken up the slack, piling up multiple runs Friday night of twenty yards or better, coveting that fourth trip in four years to the title game, but just as important…one more opportunity to share history with his friends and teammates.

“The energy is amazing,” he said. “To play this far with your friends and everybody every year…it’s just amazing.”

With congratulations, we’re pleased to recognize Marion Local’s Parker Hess for the remarkable accomplishment of four years of high school football without losing a game – this week’s ‘Who’s Hot’ honoree on Press Pros.

He, and the Flyers, have earned it.

On behalf of sponsor, the St. Henry Bank, Press Pros is happy to recognize this week’s ‘Who’s Hot’ honoree, Parker Hess, of the Marion Local Flyers.
