At the halfway point of the 2024 volleyball season, they’re the acknowledged leaders in the clubhouse in Division VII volleyball. This past week, the Fort Loramie Redskins left little to doubt, or question.
It had been rumored locally for months…that Fort Loramie, now playing volleyball in Division VII, was very, very good.
A veteran program with size, athleticism, and experience, both people in southwest Ohio and those knowledgeable of Division VII across the state had said…Fort Loramie is really, really good.
How good?
Since August 20, in a 3-0 win over Minster, John Rodgers’ Redskins have not lost a set over a span of ten matches…with wins over MAC teams Minster and Versailles. At 12-1 on the season, their only blemish came at the hands of Division Coldwater in the season’s tipoff tournament, a best of three format.
This past Saturday #1 state-ranked Fort Loramie doubled down on the claims of their media billing with a straight-set win over the outstanding, and #2-ranked Division VI St. Henry…enough to garner ‘Who’s Hot’ recognition in this week’s Press Pros.
“This is a team of eight seniors, and those eight seniors are really driven,” said Rodgers following a recent win over Anna. “They’re competitive, and they’re confident, and they have their goals looking forward. It doesn’t matter who they play, they get out there and play for each other and get after it.
“But I’ve said this before, I wait until ten games into the season before I start looking at stats, evaluating, and things like that. Our staff has done a great job with preparing these girls, and they’ve bought in. Now we’ve just got to keep after it – get better at what we do.”
Their biggest tests are ahead of them at this point, with a meeting against Division VI state-ranked New Bremen on the 21st, and currently the Division VI #3-ranked Marion Local on September 28.
At 12-1, they’re halfway, and Rodgers has no doubt looked at the stats and done his evaluating – things like that. No one is unbeatable, but winner of the Division VI title in 2014, he has to know. He has to like his chances in 2024, the best he’s had in a decade.
With congratulations, we’re pleased to acknowledge the Fort Loramie Redskins volleyball team as this week’s ‘Who’s Hot’ honorees on Press Pros.
On behalf of sponsor, the St. Henry Bank, Press Pros is happy to recognize this week’s ‘Who’s Hot’ honoree, the Fort Loramie volleyball team.
