Announcements Pending For Press Pros MAC, SCL, and Hal McCoy Award Winners

The data is in, evaluations are in progress…and the winners of this year’s Press Pros post-year awards for scholar-athletes will be coming in a few short days.

For those who might wonder, it is that time of year, of course, when consideration is given to our annual post-year awards for scholar-athletes in the Midwest Athletic Conference and Shelby County League, denoting the top performers in combination for their achievement both in competition and in the classroom during the 2016-17 school year.

The awards, the MAC Student Athlete of The Year, and the Shelby County League Student Athlete of The Year, are sponsored by area and community sponsors of those respective conferences on these Press Pros pages;  and the selections are made by a panel of current and retired area teachers, guidance counselors, and media.

In addition, announcement of this year’s recipient of the Hal McCoy Award for continued study in the field of journalism, communications, and language arts, will be forthcoming, as well.  That award of $2,500 is made possible, in part, by facilitating sponsor, the Unity National Bank.

Determination of this year’s recipients will be made during the week of May 22nd, with those individuals honored being notified through their athletic administrators and/or guidance counselors.

If you’re a candidate for one of this year’s awards, stay tuned.  You won’t have long to wait to hear the results of this year’s selection.
